Samthar state Formerly Central India (Bundelkhand ) Agency, now in Madhya Pradesh State , area of state was 461 square KM ( 90 villages ) ,and population of state was 33,472 in 1901.Privy purse of state on the time of accession (1st January1950 ) was Rs.51,800.

SAMTHAR  ORIGINALLY  WAS A PART OF BUNDELKHAND AGENCY BUT WAS later incorporated in the United Provinces. The Raja of Samthar was granted a coat of arms at the Durbar of Delhi in 1877 . The colour of the shield is the colour of the Bundela-family of which the Raja was a member. The spearheads are for the martial tradition of the ruling family and the ears of wheat for the fields surrounding Fort Samthar
